National Pasta proudly presents the first product in our new line of Healthy Grains: Red Lentil Rotini. You asked for it and we’ve delivered! Over a year in the making, our non-GMO, organic, gluten free, vegan-friendly Red Lentil Rotini packs a protein punch – 25 grams of protein per serving – without compromise on taste or texture. We recommend it served hot with tomato sauce and all of your favourite add-ins, like spicy bites Italian sausage and a sautéed veggie medley. It also makes a hearty pasta salad for lunch or your next barbeque feast.
Does it sound too good to be true? Are you wondering what the catch is? It’s all true, and there is no catch, that’s why we spent so much time on development and production.
The taste and texture are comparable to our wheat pasta but with a slightly greater density. Our Red Lentil Rotini is not chewy, and won’t fall apart in the pot, the bowl, or in your lunch bag the next day.
This dry pasta contains 3 locally-sourced ingredients: Organic red lentil flour, Organic quinoa flour, and water.
A single serving of 100 grams contains 360 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, those 25 grams of protein, 12 grams of dietary fibre, only 2 grams of sugar, and zero sodium. You also get 45% of your daily iron intake, 2% calcium, and 2% zinc. And that’s before you spice it up!
Rich with plant-based protein, Red Lentil Rotini is an excellent addition to your regular culinary rotation.
Protein is an important part of a healthy diet because it helps to boost the immune system and repair muscles that are injured or enduring strength training. Protein can also help you feel more satisfied with less food in your stomach to help you kick unhealthy eating habits. In order to support all of the functions our body needs protein for, it’s important to get it from a variety of sources.
For most delicious results, follow the directions on the packaging. Red Lentil Rotini has a high starch content; be sure to use a large pot when cooking, leaving plenty of room for the liquid level to rise when you add the pasta to the boiling water. Keep an eye on the timer because it’s very important that you don’t overcook the pasta. The moment the pasta cooks to your preferred texture, remove the pot from heat, drain the water and rinse the pasta in a colander to remove some of that residual starch. Serve immediately.
Healthy Grains Red Lentil Rotini is certified gluten free by The Gluten-Free Certification Organization, certified vegan by Vegan.org, and verified by the NON-GMO Project. It is free from eggs, soy, dairy, and artificial colours and flavours.
